Creative Suite 3 and PS3 Beta

Adobe Labs released CS3 Photoshop to the public early this year as a beta. Since I use this tool daily and was curious as to how the upgrade would perform on my intel mac, I went to install it. Needless to say, PS3 is pleasant upgrade with an incredible speed boost on intel mac. I liked the new palette look and the general cosmetic increases but didn’t find much need for some of the more advanced features.

All this was just biding my time til Adobe released Creative Suite 3. Huge upgrades to Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects and more! Flash espically was a great upgrade with the performance of the 9 Player and ActionScript 3. The Suite came into the office and everyone installed it just fine…save for me.

I was the only one in my office who installed the PS3 Beta. When the prompt came to install the CS software, it balked at Photoshop, saying there was a “conflict”. A quick search and the problem seemed widespread. Todd D pointed out the fact that you had to do some simple clean up on your box prior to installing CS3. I removed PS3 and ran the cleaner script from Adobe but time and again, I got a conflict issue when installing Photoshop. At this point, I was at my wits end.

The fix? Booting in Safe Mode, than running the clean script provided by Adobe is all that it took to solve the problem. Upon returning out of safe mode, I was able to install the software just fine and get to coding.

So far, CS3 is worth it.
